Access to the Edgcumbe
INTRODUCTION
Our Accommodation is set on a Victorian Crescent at the top of the town overlooking the Hills and Downs, the River and the Beach. We have 12 rooms in the form of Doubles, Single & Twins. We aim to cater for the needs of all visitors to the best of our ability. The following statement is a summery of our provisions. If you have any specific questions, please feel free to contact us and we will endeavour to help.
PRE-ARRIVAL
• For assistance prior to arrival please contact us on 01288 353846
• The centre of Town is an easy 2 minute walk.
• The Beach is also a 2 minute walk down.
• There is a bus stop at the bottom of the town which is a short walk to the hotel, but up a fairly steep hill.
• A local taxi rank is in operation at the bus stop. There is a company who specialises in accessible taxi service. Prior arrangements should be made in made in advance.
• You can contact us between the hours of 7.30 am – 10pm by: Telephone & Email. Although response to email and may be restricted to 10am – 3pm.
ARRIVAL & CAR PARKING FACILITIES
• On arrival to the Victorian property, there is limited free parking bays immediately in front of the building.
• Free parking is also available on the road opposite The Edgcumbe from the turning point to the far end of Summerleaze Crescent. There are also several local private and North Cornwall District Council (NCDC) car park in close proximity.
• There is a delivery ramp from the farthest parking bay to our decking area.
• Assistance is always available for Luggage
MAIN ENTERANCE & RECEPTION
• There are two steps up to the main entrance front door. The first is 21.5 in depth; the second is 15 inches in depth. Both steps are approximately 7 inches in height.
• The front door may be locked but there is a door bell on the frame on the right side, set 25 inches up from the top step.
• There is a small rise from the framed lip around the door entrance.
• The door entrance is 32 inches wide and leads into our conservatory and other public areas.
• The reception desk is located in the foyer accessible through the conservatory.
• The Sun Lounge is a level spacious room with dinging tables and chairs either side of door.
• Lighting is mainly natural as the room is surrounded by almost floor to ceiling windows. Spots lights are also around the edge of the room with a ceiling light and 2 wall lights.
• The floor covering in sun lounge is a wooden. There is a clear walkway to a door approx. 33 inches wide, through to the Foyer and Reception desk area.
• There is a slightly raised wooden foot-well approx 5” between the Sun Lounge and Foyer.
• Once in the foyer the reception desk is immediately on the right.
• The reception desk is 36.5 inches in height and on the top right there is a brass press bell to ring for attention.
• Registration is completed at the desk directly onto or reservation System. Forms can be completed whilst sitting at a table in the foyer or sun lounge.
• The registration form can be enlarged if required.
• On Check-in, we will brief you of our evacuation policy and ask that you notify us if you require any special assistance during an evacuation.
• The foyer has hardwood even floor boards.
• It is a well lit area with large 3 bulb ceiling light & a lamp on reception.
• There is a notice board on the wall opposite the reception desk on the left side of the foyer.
• To the left of the Foyer is the Bar entrance. To the right, past the reception desk is the entrance to the Restaurant and directly ahead past the Reception desk is the main staircase to the Bedrooms.
• Adjacent and to the right of main staircase and through a door is access to the fire escape stairwell and rear exit.
• We are happy to provide a familiarisation tours if required.
PUBLIC AREAS – GENERAL (Internal)
• In the reception foyer is the fire escape stair well accessed through a push door (31.5 inch wide) adjacent and to the right of the main staircase.
• There are 14 stairs to the first landing and access to 1 Family rear view.
• There are a further 5 stairs to the first floor and another fire door (31.5 inches wide) with access to a 3 sea view rooms and 2 rear rooms in a mix of double and twins.
• The first floor corridor is approx 44 inches wide.
• There are 11 stairs to a 2nd half landing and access to 1 single rear room through a fire door (30.5 inches wide).
• The stair case continues to the second floor with a further 7 stairs and access via a fire door. (30.5 inches wide)
• All stairs on main staircase are 6 inches high, 10 inches deep and 38.5 inches wide.
• There is a banister hand rail on one side of the staircase.
• The covering on the stairs and corridors is short pile carpet in beige tones with a stripe.
PUBLIC AREA – WC
• All bedrooms are en suite
• A ground floor WC is available by reception.
RESTAURANT / DINING ROOM, BAR & LOUNGES,
• The bar is situated on the ground floor from the foyer and opposite the Reception desk area.
• It has level entry and the bar service area is to the right. We operate table service.
• There are mostly restaurant table and chairs around the outside of the room with a passage in the middle remaining clear for access.
• The Bar is original pine wood floor throughout.
• Seating is arranged around the outskirts of the room
• There is a selection of square and round tables with an under-space of 23 inches and chairs of varying shapes and sizes – some low (16 inch seating height) arm chairs, some upright chairs without arms ( 18 inch seating height) and some sofas.
• Facing the bar to the right, set in a pillar at a height of approx. 51 inches there is a brass bell for attention.
• Lighting is mainly natural day light from a large Bay window at the front that overlooks the Canal, River and Beach. When necessary parts of the Bar are lit with the appropriate combination wall & ceiling lights and lamps.
• There Restaurant is situated on the ground floor access via the foyer through a door (34 inches wide) behind the Reception desk area.
• The Restaurant serves breakfast, and evening meals.
• Immediately on the wall on the left there is a brass press bell at a height of 51 inches.
• The restaurant is table service only
• Menus are available in online and in a A3 printed version.
• The Restaurant has a light wooden pine floor
• Lighting is mainly natural due to a large Bay Window at front and a smaller sash window at the rear allowing lots of natural light, whilst in the evening low level lighting with tea lights are used. Lighting at some table may be increased if required.
• The rectangle tables are 33 inches long & 18.5 inches wide. The square tables are 18.5 inches square. All tables have an under space of 24 inches and a dining height of 29 inches.
• The chairs are high backed with a seating height of 19 inches with out arms.
• Both tables & chairs are free standing and can be easily moved to accommodate and allow access.
• Where possible we are happy to try and cater for varying dietary needs. Please advise at time of booking.
LAUNDRY
• Shoe cleaning facility can be provided. Please contact reception.
• An iron and ironing board can be provided. Please contact Reception.
LEISURE FACILITIES

OUTDOOR FACILITIES
• There is a small decking area outside the front of the building.
• Some outdoor tables and chairs are provided (Weather permitting)

• Small rear view family unit. Off a little entrance hall. immediately on left, is shower EnSuite, WC and Basin. On the right is twin bedroom and further along hall is a small kitchenette with Microwave, Stainless steel basin and mini fridge & the Kettle and hospitality provisions. At the end of the entrance hall is the double bedroom with a UK standard double bed. m
